It’s Chinese to me…..

I, Mikhal Heffer, manager of Lichi Translations, read, write and speak Chinese fluently. I graduated from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Eastern Asia Studies. I studied Chinese at the University of Beijing (the “Harvard” of Asia) and also at a language college in Taiwan. I lived in China, absorbed the atmosphere and fell in love with the people, the culture and the traditions.

As I travelled all over China – by bus and train, on campus and in the markets, I was delighted that I could make myself understood and understand what was being said to me!

I discovered that over and above the vocabulary and grammar that are an important element in translation, sensitivity to fine nuances and knowledge of the Asian world play a very significant role in producing a high quality translation.

I set up Lichi Translations

with the intention of offering my clients this same experience – of being understood, no matter where you are or what you’re doing!

How did it all begin?

I established the agency 13 years ago upon returning from studying in China. Initially, I did the translations myself, and worked primarily as an interpreter, from and into Chinese. Among my clients were Chinese delegations coming to Israel for business meetings with Israeli companies such as Tadiran (who set up J/V in Southern China) and many agricultural delegations who introduced Israeli agricultural technology into China.

As globalization developed and China opened up to business with the western world, the demand for translation services in Asian languages grew, and I began to train and employ native, professional translators with expertise in different fields. The reliable and professional service we provided and the high quality of our work established Lichi Translations as a leading agency, offering a unique basket of services.

After 13 years in the field, we now serve hundreds of companies working in Asia and throughout the world.

Not just Asia

Gradually, as a result of client requests for translation services in other languages, we developed multi-language professional services, based on a network of worldwide contacts with translators of all languages.

We work with professional translators from Israel and abroad, and specialize in Asian language translation services. However, we meet all our clients’ translation needs, including multilingual projects, projects in Eastern and Western European languages or other languages.
